From the Pastor:

Thank you for visiting the Marion United Methodist Church web page. These are exciting times at MUMC. In 2006 we celebrate 171 years of ministry to this community. We are the second oldest Methodist church in the State of Arkansas, having been established in 1835. We give thanks for all who have gone before us in our great history, and we look forward to all that lies ahead in our ministry.

This past fall we completed the first addition to our church in the new building program and have moved, from a Sanctuary where this church worshiped for 86 years, into the temporary worship area in the new gymnasium building.  Our plans are to have a new Sanctuary and Educational Building completed in 2007. Our community is growing, our church is growing, the ministry and mission of our church is increasing and we are privileged to be part of this growth at this time in our history.

We invite you to come and visit our church family. We are located at 81 Military Road. Please feel free to call the church office and talk with our staff or ask to talk to me personally. We will share  current information about worship, Sunday School classes, children and youth activities, United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men activities and other programs of the church you might wish to know about.

A visit to one of our worship services or any other activity in our church will allow you to experience a warm welcome from our church family.  Since we are a growing church and since we have lots of new members and many visitors regularly, you may want to identify yourself as a guest in our family when you visit. This will allow our church family to help you find your way around and to give you our best attention.

If you happen to visit with us on a fifth Sunday in a month, we do not have Sunday School classes on that Sunday.  Instead, we have a potluck breakfast during the Sunday School time. This allows us to be together as the  whole church for fellowship (every one just brings their favorite breakfast dish and we potluck together). This time also allows those who worship regularly in the 8:45 service (which is a Contemporary style service) and those who worship regularly in the 10:45 service (which is a Traditional style service) to get to know one another. Guests in our church family on those fifth Sundays will be special guests at the breakfast (and you do not have to bring any food because our church family prepares extra just for you).

I hope you will allow me and our church family to welcome you when you come to visit us.
